Etchings from Karolina Larusdottir

Red Rag Gallery has announced that fifteen Karolina Larusdottir Limited Edition Prints have been added to the Red Rag range. The gallery has shown Red Rag has shown paintings by Karolina Larusdottir for many years but this is the first time her etchings have been made available.

Karolina Larudottir studied contemporary art at the Ruskin School of Art in Oxford between1965 to 1967. In 1986 she was elected a member of the Royal Society of Painter–Printmakers in 1996. Larusdottir's unique vision of both her Icelandic homeland and England have won her a deservedly high reputation in the fields of contemporary British art.

The latest etching at Red Rag offer an interesting collection of subject matter from Karolina. These include the ever popular images rooted in her upbringing in Iceland. Her Grandfather was the owner of the first grand hotel in Reykjavik. Glimpses of this busy environment, scenes of chambermaids, chefs and waitresses in the kitchen are increasingly sought after.

In many paintings and etchings Karolina Larusdottir creates a world of her own, with imaginary people in strange situations, often floating, carrying rainbows or being visited by angels. Often Karolina’s contemporary art pieces contain a wry humour that enhances the surreal and timeless qualities she creates when dealing with her favourite subject - people.
